Published on October 6, 2019, Kenya Railways initially prohibited passengers from bringing food and drinks on board its trains operating between Nairobi and Mombasa, citing security concerns.
However, the company has now reversed its decision after receiving customer feedback and criticism from the public.
According to a statement from Kenya Railways, the company has instituted negotiations with its service providers to resolve the issue.
As a result, passengers are now allowed to carry foodstuff and drinks on the trains, except for alcoholic drinks, which remain strictly prohibited.
Kenya Railways has suspended the directive until further notice to allow for the conclusion of negotiations.
