On August 30, 2019, Charlotte Walton married her partner Nick in a beautiful ceremony. However, the day was bittersweet as Charlotte's father, Mick Barber, had passed away in April due to cancer, just a few months before the wedding.
Charlotte's cousin Kirsty came up with a touching idea to suspend Mick's ashes in Charlotte's acrylic nail, allowing her to fulfill her father's promise of walking her down the aisle.
Charlotte, a car dealer, shared her emotional experience: “Kirsty is the queen of nails and I thought her idea was amazing. I was always a huge daddy’s girl, we all were, whenever we asked for anything he would say no first but then he would feel bad and would do it five minutes later.”
She continued, “Having the ashes attached to my nails felt like he was holding my hand, I knew it wasn’t the same as him really being there, but it was as close as we could get.”
Charlotte cherished the unique gesture, saying, “I loved having him there with me even if it was just in spirit, but with his ashes attached to me as I walked to wed my husband it felt like the next best thing.”
The wedding was a beautiful celebration of love, and Charlotte's tribute to her late father was a poignant reminder of the enduring bond between a parent and child.
