Published on October 6, 2019, Kenya Railways has backtracked on its decision to prohibit food and beverages on its trains.
The move comes after passengers expressed their discontent with the ban, citing the unaffordability of food options on the coaches.
According to a statement from the agency, Kenya Railways is now negotiating with service providers to improve the services offered on the trains.
Although the ban on alcoholic beverages remains in place, passengers are now free to bring their own food and drinks onto the trains.
Kenya Railways had initially warned passengers that food and beverages from outside would not be allowed on the trains and would be confiscated at security checkpoints.
