Hellen Obiri Defends 5000M World Championship Title in Doha

Hellen Obiri, the reigning 5000M world champion, successfully defended her title at the 2019 IAAF World Championships in Doha, Qatar, on October 5, 2019.

Obiri, who had previously held the top spot in the 5000M rankings, secured the gold medal with a time of 14:26.72, a new world record.

Kenyan athlete Margaret Chelimo took home the silver medal with a time of 14:27.49, while the rest of the field vied for the remaining spots on the podium.

Obiri's victory has sent shockwaves of excitement throughout Kenya, with many taking to social media to congratulate her on her achievement.
