World Teachers’ Day: Meet Henry Anumudu, a young Nigerian teacher making the world a better place one student at a time ¶

With the support of Teach For Nigeria, Henry became a pioneer Fellow of the organization and began to develop innovative ways to teach his students. He soon realized that his students were not just struggling with their studies, but also with the challenges of poverty and lack of access to basic necessities like food and shelter.
Henry knew he had to do more than just teach his students. He had to help them overcome the obstacles that stood in their way. So, he began to use his own money and resources to provide for his students, buying them food, clothes, and even building them houses when necessary.
But Henry didn’t stop there. He also established a mentoring program to help his students develop the skills and confidence they needed to succeed in life. Through his program, he has been able to connect his students with local businesses and organizations that can provide them with job opportunities and other forms of support.
Henry’s dedication and commitment to his students have not gone unnoticed. In just two years, he has seen an exponential increase in literacy rates in his classroom, and his students have gone on to achieve great things in their own right.
