On September 22, 50-year-old Chetan Vyas, the former General Manager of Rai Cement factory, was brutally murdered at his house in a shocking incident.

According to Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti, five prime suspects in the murder have been arrested. The suspects, who are all loading supervisors at the firm, include 38-year-old Salim, 24-year-old Osman Noor, Mohammed Shahid, 38, Yacob Ali, 24, and 29-year-old Shabdin Ismail.

“They are all loading supervisors in Rai Cement from Mombasa,” said Kinoti.

The DCI is also investigating the aspect of terror in the murder, and Kinoti cautioned companies that employ foreign-trained personnel to seek clearance from the DCI, done through Interpol coordination.

Earlier, Kericho County Deputy Police Commander Patricia Nasio had stated that the suspects, who wore balaclavas, had been captured by CCTV cameras mounted outside Vyas' house, but they dismounted the cameras inside the house.

“After strangling the deceased, the suspects ransacked the house and made away with six sacks. We are nonetheless not certain what the sacks contained and whether the content was the motive of murder," said Nasio.
