Published on October 5, 2019, an NTV exposé laid bare the shocking treatment of children with cerebral palsy at the Children's Welfare Society of Kenya (CWSK).

The Cerebral Palsy Society of Kenya (CPSK) has slammed the CWSK, expressing its deepest shock and disappointment at the exposé.

According to the exposé, children with cerebral palsy were subjected to painful therapy, including being combed painfully as part of treatment.

The exposé, titled 'Sins of Saviours', was initially blocked by the CWSK, whose patron is President Uhuru Kenyatta, after they moved to court to stop its broadcast.

However, after a month-long legal battle, the court gave NTV the green light to proceed with broadcasting the investigative piece.

The CPSK has now called on relevant authorities, including the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council, Pharmacy and Poisons Board, and the National Police Service, to investigate all groups and societies charged with the care of the less fortunate, especially children and persons with disabilities.

"We watched in agony as helpless orphans were man-handled and used as guinea pigs in a treatment process that is not only illegal, abusive, and potentially life-threatening," the CPSK said in a statement.
