DCI Cracks Chetan Vyas Murder Case, Arrests Five Suspects

On September 22, 2019, a gruesome murder shook Kericho when Rai Cement General Manager Mr. Chetan Vyas was tortured and killed in his house. The incident has now led to the arrest of five suspects by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

According to the DCI, the suspects, who are all Loading Supervisors at Rai Cement Company from Mombasa, were arrested following extensive forensic investigations of the crime scene and the surrounding area.

The suspects, aged between 24 and 38, are Azim Salim, Osman Noor, Mohamed Shahid, Yacoob Wali, and Shabdin Ismail, who is a former security guard in Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

The DCI has cautioned companies that employ foreign-trained personnel to always seek clearance from the agency, which is done through Interpol coordination.

The aspect of terrorism is also being investigated in the murder.
