On October 4, 2019, Moses Wanyoike, a 51-year-old man from Kamahuha Village in Murang'a County, woke up to a horrific discovery: his penis had been severed from his body.

According to Wanyoike, he had spent the previous night drinking with friends at a local bar, including his friend Gerald Mbugua, who would later become the suspect in the crime.

Wanyoike claimed that Mbugua had threatened to circumcise him again, but he had dismissed the threat as a joke, attributing it to the effects of excessive alcohol consumption.

However, when Wanyoike woke up on Thursday morning and went to the toilet, he realized that his genitals had been cut off. He immediately called a friend, who rushed him to Murang'a Level 5 Hospital with the help of Kamahuha MCA Joseph Karanja.

Speaking to the media from his hospital bed, Wanyoike explained the events leading up to the incident. He said that Mbugua had been telling him that he would circumcise him throughout their journey to Mbugua's home.

"Throughout the journey, Mbugua kept on telling me that he would circumcise me for a second time. I treated his threat as a bad joke, blaming his statement on the excess alcohol that we had taken," Wanyoike said.

Joseph Karanja, the Kamahuha MCA, blamed the incident on the excessive consumption of illicit alcohol, saying that it could have led to the unfortunate incident.
