Woman Arrested with Sh12.6 Million Worth of Bhang in Mombasa

On Friday, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) made a significant arrest in Kisauni, Mombasa County. The suspect, identified as Vivian Auma, was found in possession of bhang estimated to have a street value of Sh12.6 million.

According to the DCI, the arrest was made after a multi-agency team raided Auma's home in Kiembeni Estate. The team discovered 25,200 rolls of bhang hidden inside 42 large Nigerian bags in the one-bedroom house.

The bhang had been rolled in khaki papers and stored in the large bags. The investigative team was acting on a tip-off from the residents of Kiembeni.

Auma is currently in police custody, assisting with further investigations. She is expected to be arraigned in court on Monday.

"Further investigations ongoing and Suspect to be arraigned on Monday," the DCI stated.

On October 4, 2019, the DCI Kenya Twitter account shared a post about the arrest, stating: "OVER 25,200 Rolls of #BHANG with an Estimated Street Value of Kshs. 12.6M were today Confiscated at a Residential House in Kiembeni Estate, Kisauni-MSA, following a Search conducted by a Multi- Agency Team. One Suspect; Mrs. Vivian AUMA (owner of the house) arrested & in Custody."
