On October 4, 2019, Deputy President William Ruto spoke at the burial of his former communication officer, Anthony Kariuki, in Machakos county.
During the ceremony, Ruto lamented that some young men in his office were dodging marriage despite being of age.
He advised the bachelors to borrow a leaf from Anthony, who he said was a well-organised man with a great family.
"I have been talking to young men working in my office to consider marrying and starting families. Now you can see for yourselves I will not mention names. If Anthony was not as organised as he was, we will not discuss his family today. So please I think you can now find sense in what I was telling you," said the DP amid laughter.
Anthony Kariuki was eulogised by Ruto as sharp, dependable, and industrious, and his colleagues were encouraged to emulate his contributions to the office.
