At the 2019 World Championships in Doha, Qatar, Kenya's Conseslus Kipruto made a triumphant return to competitive athletics after a lengthy injury layoff, successfully defending his 3,000m steeplechase title in a thrilling photo finish.

On Friday night, Kipruto faced stiff opposition from Ethiopia's Lamecha Girma, but his determination and skill ultimately paid off as he crossed the finish line in 8:01.35, narrowly ahead of Girma's 8:01.36.

Reigning Diamond League series winner Sofiane El Bakkali of Morocco secured the bronze medal in 8:03.76, while other Kenyan athletes in the race, Benjamin Kigen, Abraham Kibiwott, and Leonard Bett, finished in sixth, seventh, and ninth places, respectively.

With this victory, Kipruto solidified his position as a world-class athlete and demonstrated his resilience in the face of adversity.
