On October 4, 2019, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled in favour of former Harambee Stars coach Adel Amrouche, ordering Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to pay him Sh108m for wrongful dismissal.
According to FKF President Nick Mwendwa, they are incapable of raising the Sh108m, and will have to seek government aid to pay the debt.
The dispute dates back to 2014, when Amrouche was sacked by FKF's then-boss Sam Nyamweya following Kenya's disappointing Africa Cup of Nations qualifying defeat to Lesotho.
Amrouche had initially been awarded Sh60m by FIFA, but took his case to CAS, seeking more compensation. He won the case on Thursday, October 3, 2019.
Amrouche had a successful stint with Harambee Stars, helping them win the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup in 2013, and had previously won many titles with different teams.
