On October 4, 2019, a shocking revelation emerged about the personal life of DCI Chief Inspector Ann Wanjiru, a younger sister to a well-known police impersonator, Joshua Waiganjo.
Ann's dual marriage to two police officers, David Murimi and David Mbitu, has put her at risk of being locked away for a minimum of 5 years for bigamy.
According to reports, Ann's bigamy status surfaced when she filed a divorce to terminate her union with David Murimi, a police commander in Nairobi.
It is alleged that Ann hurried to wed her second husband, Murimi, in 2012 before terminating her first marriage to Mbitu, a senior prisons sergeant in Nyeri.
During a court appearance, Ann accused Murimi of being a violent lover, threatening her life, neglecting, and denying her conjugal rights. She also requested the court to accord her security, citing danger posed by her broken union with Murimi.
Murimi, however, accused Ann of having a dual union and challenged her to provide evidence of his violent acts. He and Mbitu allegedly want Ann to be held accountable for her marital fraud.
