On October 4, 2019, a court in Kenya ruled that Sarah Wairimu, the key suspect in the murder of Dutch businessman Tob Cohen, would remain in custody until the court ruled on her bail application on October 11, 2019.

The prosecution strongly opposed Sarah's bail application, citing concerns that releasing her would interfere with the ongoing investigations into Cohen's murder.

Prosecutors argued that other suspects in the case had yet to be arrested and that releasing Sarah would compromise the integrity of the investigation.

Defense counsel Philip Murgor pleaded with the court to release Sarah on bail, citing the fact that she had spent 38 days in custody since her arrest.

However, the court denied Sarah's bail application, ruling that her continued detention did not amount to a violation of her rights as an accused person.

Justice Stella Mutuku also allowed Murgor to continue representing Sarah, dismissing concerns about a potential conflict of interest.

Wairimu has since taken plea in the murder case.
