Deputy President William Ruto Declares Raila's Defeat in Kibra By-Election

On October 4, 2019, Deputy President William Ruto hosted a meeting with Kibra delegates at his Karen residence, where he declared Raila Odinga's defeat in the upcoming by-election.

According to Ruto, the Jubilee Party has received overwhelming support from the Kibra residents, with many considering the area as their 'home turf.'

However, this move comes as a surprise, given Ruto's earlier denial of allegations that he was targeting Raila in the by-election.

Earlier, Ruto had dismissed claims that he was using the by-election to target Raila, stating that he was focused on winning the seat for the Jubilee Party.

But in a dramatic U-turn, Ruto has now declared Raila's defeat, stating that the Jubilee Party has made significant strides in the area and has built a strong foundation for the by-election.

Despite this, Raila's supporters remain optimistic, with some claiming that the ODM leader's popularity in the area remains strong.

The Kibra by-election is set to take place on November 7, 2019.
