On October 4, 2019, a gruesome discovery was made at Membley, Ruiru, where the lifeless body of Jane Murugi, sister of Githunguri MP Gabriel Kago, was found with a scarf tied to a necktie hanging from the toilet window.
Initially, there were conflicting reports, with the MP insisting that it was murder while police pointed to possibilities of a suicide.
However, an investigation led to the arrest of Stephen Ndoro, the husband of the deceased, who claimed to have found his wife missing from the bed and stumbled upon her body in the toilet.
Ruiru police boss, Mutwiri Ringera, initially suggested that the scene suggested a suicide, but the arrest of Ndoro has raised new questions about the circumstances surrounding Murugi's death.
Murugi, a nurse who was on maternity leave at the time of her death, left behind a two-month-old baby.
