Published on October 4, 2019, a woman of Tanzanian origin was arrested at Bondo Police Station after she was caught trying to sell her two children in the town's car park.
The woman, identified as Zaidi Hassan, had announced that she was selling the children, aged one and four years, for Sh60,000 and Sh55,000 respectively.
According to eyewitnesses, the woman had arrived in Bondo town from Busia that evening and claimed to have four children, having already sold two in Kisumu.
Bondo police boss Anthony Wafula confirmed the arrest, stating that the woman and her two children were in police custody as investigations into the matter continued.
