Government Boosts SMEs in Affordable Housing Project

Published on October 4, 2019, the government has taken steps to boost the participation of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the affordable housing project.

Housing Principal Secretary Charles Hinga announced that 70 housing accessories will be procured from SMEs during the implementation of the program.

The government has offered incentives to encourage the private sector's participation in the project, which aims to construct half a million housing units by 2022.

During an inspection tour of the Ruiru railway station, the PS revealed plans to ease congestion on roads by introducing three train services between Nairobi and Ruiru once the station is complete.
