On October 1st, Global Radio Services Limited, a UK-based firm, sent a letter to Radio Africa Limited accusing them of copyright infringement. The company claims that Radio Africa copied their Smooth Radio logo and artwork from their Facebook page (www.facebook.com/smooth.radio) and used it on their own Facebook page (www.facebook.com/SmoothFMKenya) without permission.

The letter, seen by Kenya Insights, gives Radio Africa an ultimatum to delete the infringing Facebook page and cease using Global Radio's copyrighted materials to avoid legal action.

According to the letter, Radio Africa has copied a substantial part of the Smooth Logo, the Smooth Cover Artwork, and the Smooth posts. The company reserves the right to bring proceedings against Radio Africa without further notice if they do not hear from them before the deadline.

Radio Africa has yet to respond to the allegations.
