On October 4, 2019, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko helped Anne Thumbi, a nominated Member of County Assembly and nurse, steal the spotlight from Ken Okoth's mourning with a revelation about a possible extramarital affair.

Days after Monica Okoth accepted the DNA results confirming the child's paternity, Anne Thumbi announced through her lawyer, Danstan Omari, that she would move to court to fight for her child's rightful share.

Thumbi's next cause of action is to tackle her son's entitlements under the succession law, ensuring he receives school fees and medical cover.

Despite the backlash, Thumbi stood her ground, daring the legislator's family to deny her child and challenging every step Monica took in court.
