On October 1st, Uganda Airlines made its maiden trip to Bujumbura, the capital city of Burundi, marking the beginning of three new regional routes.
The airline has also announced plans to increase the frequency of daily flights to Nairobi from two to three and from one to two to Juba, pending the acquisition of more aircraft.
Uganda Airlines has placed an order for two Airbus A300-800s, with the first delivery expected in 2020. The airline currently operates two Bombardier CRJ 900 aircraft with a capacity of 76 passengers.
With the addition of the new routes, Uganda Airlines now serves seven destinations, including Nairobi, Mogadishu, Dar es Salaam, Juba, Bujumbura, Kilimanjaro, and Mombasa.
Uganda Airlines was revived in August 2019, after being liquidated in 2001. At the time of its liquidation, the airline flew to eight destinations and had a fleet of 15 aircraft.
