KEPROBA CEO Peter Biwott is a man of many passions, but cycling stands out as one of his favorites. In fact, he loves it so much that he wishes he could ride to work every day.
However, the reality of security concerns, poor infrastructure, and negative perceptions in Nairobi makes cycling to work a risky affair. Despite this, Biwott continues to indulge in his love for cycling, often riding long distances and even participating in motor-racing.
On the weekend of September 21st, Biwott rode an impressive 70kms, covering 68km on Saturday and 10km on Sunday. He believes that cycling is a great way to cut weight in a fun-filled way, and his next target is to ride 100km.
Biwott's love for cycling is not just about the thrill of the ride; it also helps him build management skills. He learns something new every time he rides and finds it very practical in running an organization. Good managers and leaders, he believes, are always open to learning new things.
As an economist, Biwott is also interested in reading books that apply economic insights to real-world problems. Recently, he read 'Why Nations Fail' by Daron Acemoglu and James A. Robinson, which explores why some nations develop differently than others.
At home, Biwott enjoys a simple meal of millet ugali and vegetables, which he grows on his farm. He has adopted a more herbivorous lifestyle and believes that healthy living combined with exercising on the bike is the key to a happy and healthy life.
