While many women are aware of the need for regular breast exams, there are other types of cancers that require attention every other month and every other time.
According to cancer.net, certain body changes can indicate the need for a medical check for cancer.
Uncommon Symptoms to Watch Out For ¶
- Breast Discoloration and Dimpling: Women are aware of bumps and lumps in the breasts, but breast dimpling is a less known symptom that must be taken seriously.
- Chronic Coughing: A cough that lasts more than two weeks, with or without blood in the sputum, may be a sign of leukemia or lung cancer.
- Bloating: Persistent bloating and constipation could be a sign of uterine or ovarian cancer.
- Difficulty in Swallowing Food: Persistent difficulty in swallowing food and drinks may be a sign of stomach, throat, or lung cancer.
- Blood in Stool: Seeing blood in stool is not normal and may point towards colon cancer.
- Excessive Bruising: Constantly having bruises in new places, especially on hands and fingers, could be a sign of leukemia or anemia.
- Abnormal Pelvic or Period Pains: Abnormal periods, heavier periods, severe pelvic pain, and irregular periods can be a sign of ovarian, cervical, and other types of cancers.
- Frequent Fevers or Infections: Constantly taking painkillers to relieve pain and reduce fevers may be a sign of early lymphoma or leukemia.
