On October 4, 2019, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko made headlines for buying a prized bull weighing 630kg for President Uhuru Kenyatta during the official opening of the Nairobi International Trade Fair.
The bidding process for the brown Borana bull began at Sh230,000, with various high-end butcheries competing to outbid each other.
However, it was a fierce competition between Governor Sonko and Diamond Cuts Butcher, based in Diamond Plaza, that ultimately led to the prized bull being sold for Sh800,000.
Not content with just one bull, Governor Sonko splashed a further Sh690,000 to buy yet another bull.
