On October 4, 2019, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino rallied his constituents to join him in a peaceful demonstration against NSSF Chairman General Julius Karangi and Ministry of Lands officials.
According to Owino, the demonstration will begin at the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) headquarters at 9:30 am, where they plan to oust the NSSF Chairman. From there, they will head to the Ministry of Lands to eject officials from office.
Owino accused the officials of being incompetent and working hand in hand with cartels to frustrate the hard-working people of Embakasi East.
He claimed that NSSF sold land to residents in his constituency over 15 years ago but have never released the respective titled deeds, leaving people who took loans and sold assets to buy the land feeling scammed.
“We will light a fire under their buttocks!” Owino declared, vowing to shake up the officials and make them learn that they cannot sit on the sweat of honest Kenyans.
