A bizarre incident in Nakuru has led to the arrest of a 27-year-old man who exhumed his father's remains to allegedly retrieve leather shoes.

The incident occurred at the family's home in Maseno village, Subukia sub-county, where the suspect's father, John Ndonye, was buried in 2015.

Nakuru Police Commander Stephen Matu stated that the suspect intended to sell the shoes his father was buried in.

The suspect's mental health status is unclear, but he was referred to a psychiatrist for examination before his arraignment.
