On October 3, 2019, South-African fashion retailer Woolworths opened a new flagship store at the Sarit Centre in Nairobi, marking a significant milestone in its expansion drive in Kenya.
The store, which spans 2,100 square meters, stocks a wide range of men, women, and children's clothing, footwear, and accessories.
Woolworths has been present in Kenya for several years, having bought out Deacon's Kenya stake in 2016, ending a joint venture formed in 2012.
Today, the retailer has 11 stores in Kenya, with eight located in Nairobi and the rest in Mombasa, Kisumu, and Eldoret.
According to Yobe Mvula, Divisional Executive for Africa, Woolworths is committed to creating economic opportunities for Kenyans and employing local skills.
With the opening of this flagship store, Woolworths now has 142 employees in Kenya and is investing in staff and skills development programs.
