Kisumu Deputy Governor Faces Eviction Over Sh3.5 Million Rent Arrears

Published on October 3, 2019, a letter from Vauxhall Holding Limited to Kisumu County Secretary Godfrey Kigochi revealed that the county government owed Sh3.5 million in rent arrears.

The letter, dated September 30, 2019, stated that the county government had failed to honour its commitment to pay the outstanding amount, despite a previous agreement to settle the debt.

According to the letter, the county government owed United Millers Sh150,490.10 and another Sh123,354 to Vauxhal Limited, with an outstanding balance of Sh273,844.10 as of September 29.

Additionally, the county government owed United Millers Sh3,233,250.10 in old pending bills, bringing the total debt to Sh3,507,094.20.

County Secretary Godfrey Kigochi confirmed receiving the letter and stated that he had forwarded it to the Finance department for action.

Mr. Kigochi acknowledged that some of the bills may have overlapped from the previous government and promised to follow up on the progress of the letter.
