Published on October 3, 2019, a Nairobi woman's desperate search for her missing daughter led her to a city con witchdoctor who allegedly took advantage of her situation and toiled with her privacy.

Helen Atsenga, 53, claims she was tricked into having sex with the witchdoctor after he promised to help her find her daughter, Jane Muhenge, who had been missing for over 10 years.

Atsenga received a life-changing call from a stranger who introduced himself as a prophet and claimed to have information about her daughter's whereabouts. Desperate to find her child, Atsenga dropped off her contacts to hundreds of preachers at city churches, hoping for divine intervention.

The 'prophet' then instructed Atsenga to send Sh3000 for fasting and prayers, which she did via M-pesa. However, the following day, he called again for Sh4,500 for her 'cleansing,' and Atsenga claims she was forced to deliver prayer items to the prophet's son, who turned out to be a scammer.

Atsenga alleges that the 'prophet' then tricked her into having sex with him, claiming it was a ritual to bring back her daughter. However, after the ordeal, Atsenga realized she had been raped and reported the matter to Buru-buru police station, but the officer she approached told her they couldn't do much without evidence.
