Published on October 3, 2019, a survey by Mpasho revealed a disturbing trend among Kenyans regarding their knowledge and experiences with sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
When asked if they had ever contracted any kind of STI, the responses were 'scary'.
STIs are a significant public health concern worldwide, and Kenya is no exception. The most common STIs include gonorrhea, hepatitis B, syphilis, trichomoniasis, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), genital warts or human papillomavirus (HPV), chlamydia, and genital herpes.
Despite the risks, many Kenyans remain ignorant about STIs, and the stigma surrounding the issue is a major barrier to seeking medical help.
