On Wednesday, 2nd October 2019, Flying Squad detectives in Nairobi made a significant breakthrough in the fight against fuel siphoning, arresting 15 suspects found stealing fuel at the Industrial Area.
According to the detectives, the suspects were found operating four pumping machines and two trucks, which were ferrying approximately 14,000 litres of petrol.
The detectives also seized the four pumping machines and two trucks, and the suspects are currently in custody pending arraignment.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation, DCI detectives in Tanzania recovered three motor vehicles and a motorcycle believed to have been stolen from Kenya.
The recovered vehicles include a Toyota AXIO, a Toyota ISIS, a Mitsubishi Lorry, and a Red BOXER, which are currently being held at Taveta DCI Offices awaiting identification by the rightful owners.
Police say further investigations by Interpol detectives are ongoing.
Elsewhere, Peter Cheruiyot, a 26-year-old suspect of fraud, was arrested at his home in Mulot-Bomet in an operation by the DCI Detectives from Bomet.
The suspect is believed to have swapped over 400,000 shillings from various Equity Bank accounts last week.
