Gor Mahia FC's winning streak continued on Sunday, September 22, 2019, as they defeated Nzoia Sugar 2-0 at Mumias Sports Complex.
Defending champions Gor Mahia returned to the top of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) standings with a hard-fought win over hosts Nzoia Sugar.
K' Ogalo captain Kenneth Muguna set the record Kenyan champions on their way with a 10th-minute goal, before new-signing Clifton Miheso grabbed his first of the season with a sublime free-kick at the half-hour mark.
The win, third in a row for head coach Steven Polack, saw Gor Mahia return to the top of the premier league table with nine points.
Polack praised his team for leaving behind their Caf Champions League disappointments and returning to winning ways in the local league.
'We needed this win especially after the CAF disappointments and I am glad the team played aggressively and ensured we are back to the top of the league,' he said.
Nzoia Sugar's coach Godfrey Oduor attributed their loss to not capitalising on their chances.
'Gor used their chances in the first half to beat us. We came back stronger but all they did was to manage the game. If we had scored the penalty the game would have changed,' said Oduor.
