Police Officers Caught Smuggling Marijuana in Government Vehicle

On October 2, 2019, a multi-agency team caught three police officers smuggling marijuana in a government vehicle along the Garissa-Thika Highway.

The operation took place near Kanyonyoo Market, where the officers were found with 245 kilograms of marijuana packed in 68 bales.

Additionally, the suspects had Sh239,500 in cash and an assortment of contrabands, including 6 Bags of Rice (300Kgs), 2 Bags of Beans (100Kgs), 6 Bags of Sugar, and Contraband Milk Powder, among other items.

The officers, identified as PC Japhet Fondo, PC Bob Otieno, and APC Michael Mwangi, were arrested and are currently under investigation.

According to a statement by the DCI, investigations are ongoing.
