On October 2, 2019, Emma Wanyotta, a college student, was found murdered in a nappier grass farm next to her mother's house in Moi's Bridge, Uasin Gishu County.

Idi Mustafa, the suspect, was arraigned before Senior Resident Magistrate Christine Omenya at the Eldoret High Court and charged with the crime.

Mustafa was denied bail and detained for 20 days to allow police to complete their investigations, which the court was told were complex due to the seriousness of the crime.

Investigating officer Veronica Muinami stated that Mustafa was a flight risk due to facing another murder case at the Kitale Police Station, which was set to be heard on October 24.

The court was also informed that a postmortem had not been conducted on Wanyotta's body, which was lying at Kitale Level 4 Hospital.

The matter will be mentioned on October 22.
