The University of Nairobi has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS) to conduct training on research and corporate governance. The partnership, signed on October 3, 2019, aims to develop modern learning content and build futuristic certified secretaries.
ICS Chief Executive Obare Nyaega and Chairman Waweru Mathenge signed the deal with the university's Dean of School of Law Kiarie Mwaura and Ken Mutula, a member of the faculty majoring in corporate governance.
As part of the agreement, a joint quarterly publication of the University of Nairobi and ICS was launched, dated September 1, 2019. The publication will facilitate joint publishing of the governance Journal and study materials for CS students.
According to Obare Nyaega, one of the components of the MOU is to have a governance journal that will have a pure review of governance articles. "This is because we have not been able to have governance articles in the country and it's time we stopped having international benchmarking and developed our own that works for this context," he added.
