Liverpool vs Salzburg: Reds Bounce Back with Thrilling 4-3 Win

On Wednesday night, Liverpool got their Champions League title defence back on track with a 4-3 win over Red Bull Salzburg at Anfield.

The match got off to a bright start for the Reds, with Sadio Mane and Andrew Robertson trying to break into the visitor's danger zone in the first minute.

However, Rasmus Kristensen's top-notch defensive instinct stopped Jesse Marsch's side from conceding in the first 60 seconds of the meeting.

Mane needed just nine minutes to find the back of the net after combining well with Roberto Firmino in the opponent's 18-yard box.

He benefited from Trent Alexander-Arnold's precise and stunning cross as they opened a two-goal lead with less than 30 minutes into the game.

Mo Salah made it three for the Merseyside outfit in the 36th minute through a solo run, opening his European goal account this campaign.

Hee-Chan Hwang reduced his side's deficit after dribbling past Virgil van Dijk in the Reds' box before firing a shot past Adrian to make the scoreline 3-1 in the 39th minute.

Salzburg came back with a sense of purpose in the early minutes of the second half, with Takumi Minamino scoring a 56th-minute goal to ensure his side remained in a touching distance with Liverpool.

On the hour mark, Erling Braut Haaland levelled parity for his side after stunning the Anfield side in front of their fans.

However, Mo Salah, in conjunction with Firmino, ensured the home team restored their leadership one more time in the game.

Salah beat Salzburg defenders to fire home a close-range shot and help his side win their first game on the continent.

It was also Salah's second goal of the game and of the European season, having failed to score in their 2-0 defeat to Napoli on match day one.
