Uhuru Appoints Former ICC Lawyer as New Lands Commission Chairman

On October 2, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta announced the appointment of Grishom Otachi as the new chairman of the National Lands Commission, replacing Mohammed Swazuri.

According to a government statement, Otachi was one of the lawyers who represented Uhuru Kenyatta during his ICC case.

Other appointees include former Nyeri Town MP Esther Murugi and former Minister Kazungu Kambi.

The new commission members will include:

  • James Toitoek
  • Getrude Nduku
  • Reginald Okumu
  • Hubbie Hussein Al-Haji
  • Tiya Galgalo
  • Alister Murimi
