Three Police Officers Held for Transporting 245 Kilograms of Bhang

On October 2, 2019, a multi-agency team seized 68 bales of bhang weighing 245 kilograms and Kshs. 239,500 in cash during an operation near Kanyonyoo Market along the Garissa-Thika Highway.

Three police officers, Constable Bob Otieno, Constable Japhet Fondo, and APC Michael Mwangi, were arrested while transporting the illegal substance in a government vehicle, a Toyota Landcruiser.

The officers were also found with contraband goods, including two bags of beans, six bags of rice, six bags of sugar, and milk powder, among other items.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the officers were placed in custody following their arrest.
