On Wednesday, October 2, 2019, at the Khalifa Stadium in Doha, Kenya's Emmanuel Korir made a stunning comeback to the 400m final with a season-best time of 44.37 seconds in the semi-finals.
Finishing second in Heat One, Korir trailed behind American Fred Kerley, who clocked 44.25 seconds.
Meanwhile, Team Kenya's hopes were dealt a blow as Alphas Kishoyian, the other Kenyan in the semi-finals, finished sixth in Heat 3, with a time of 45.55 seconds, behind Machel Cedenio of Trinidad and Tobago, who won the heat in 44.41 seconds.
