On October 2, 2019, BLAZE by Safaricom awarded Ksh.800,000 to 24 young entrepreneurs from the Rift Region at a creation camp held at Eldoret National Polytechnic.
The three-day event brought together over 200 youth from the region and its environs to engage with BLAZE mentors on skills and knowledge required to succeed in different fields.
Attendees also had the opportunity to pitch their business ideas, with the top three in eight categories winning Ksh.50,000, Ksh.30,000, and Ksh.20,000 respectively.
Shirley Kigotho, the overall winner in the Agribusiness category, expressed her gratitude to BLAZE for developing a platform that helps young people grow their talents and create self-employment.
The Eldoret creation camp featured mentors such as Naiboi (Music), Caleb Karuga (Agripreneur), Brian Diang'a (Professional Gamer), Wangari Nyanjui (Entrepreneur), and Joanna Kinuthia (content creator), among others.
Other category winners included Denis Kipkemboi (Technology), Obadiah Joseph (Creative Arts), Night Yassir Hassan Ali (Fashion), John Rapando (Music), Vincent Andati (Sports), Isaac Yegon (Sales & Production), and Francis Okanga (Film & Photography).
