Likoni Ferry Disaster: Chinese ROVs Discover 6 More Cars at Ocean Floor ¶
On October 2, 2019, the recovery efforts for the Likoni ferry disaster received a significant boost with the arrival of Chinese divers and remotely operated vehicles (ROVs).
According to updates from KenyanTraffic, Chinese ROVs have spotted six more cars at the sea bed, bringing the total number of vehicles discovered to at least 12.
Government spokesperson Col. Rtd Cyrus Oguna confirmed the development during a press briefing, citing the efforts of the multi-agency teams working round the clock to retrieve the bodies.
Mombasa Governor Hassan Ali Joho also spoke out, announcing that he had sent for experts from South Africa to join the recovery efforts.
