Kenya's Education Ministry Investigates Cheating in National Exams ¶
Kenya's education ministry has launched an investigation into cheating in national exams, with 39 counties under scrutiny. The investigation follows a report by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) that identified 315 schools suspected of cheating in the upcoming exams.
The KNEC report, released on October 2, 2019, listed 190 primary schools and 125 secondary schools suspected of cheating in the national exams. The report also identified the top 5 counties with the highest number of schools suspected of cheating, including Garissa, Wajir, West Pokot, Mandera, and Nairobi.
According to the report, the national exams, including the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), will take place on October 28-31, 2019, and November 4-7, 2019, respectively.
Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has warned students against cheating in the exams, saying that those found guilty will face severe penalties.

- Garissa - 63 schools
- Wajir - 50 schools
- West Pokot - 22 schools
- Mandera - 21 schools
- Nairobi - 18 schools
And here is the list of counties with the lowest number of schools suspected of cheating:
- Nyamira - 1 school
- Narok - 1 school
- Embu - 1 school
- Murang'a - 1 school
- Nyeri - 1 school
- Kericho - 1 school
- Kwale - 1 school
- Kirinyaga - 1 school
- Kitui - 2 schools
- Uasin Gishu - 2 schools
