Nairobi City Hall Halts Seasonal Tickets for Suspended Matatu Saccos

On October 2, 2019, Nairobi City Hall added to the woes of nine matatu saccos suspended by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) for failing to comply with legal provisions.

The City Hall, in a letter from Director of Parking Tom Tinega, halted the issuance of seasonal tickets to the nine saccos.

According to the letter, the saccos were suspended by NTSA via a letter dated September 30, 2019, for failing to comply with the provisions of section 5 (1) of the NTSA (operation of PSV) Regulation 2014.

The suspended saccos include City Tram, Mwamba Sacco, Marvellous Travellers, MNGN Sacco, Fig Komba, Moonlight Coach Company, Mwirona Sacco, Huruma Mini Bus, and Transafaris.

The suspensions were effected on September 26 and 27, 2019.
