On October 2, 2019, Nice football club made headlines after terminating the contract of promising young player Lamine Diaby-Fadiga.

The decision came after Diaby-Fadiga admitted to stealing his teammate Kasper Dolberg's £62,000 watch from the dressing room.

According to reports, Diaby-Fadiga was willing to repay for the watch and even apologized for his actions.

However, Nice club officials could not accept such behavior and decided to terminate his contract with immediate effect.

"Following the confession of the player, the Club made the decision to break the contract of the attacker... with immediate effect," a club statement read.

"Beyond any sporting and financial considerations, OGC Nice can not afford to accept such behavior and to ignore such a fault," the statement continued.

Despite the controversy surrounding Diaby-Fadiga's departure, Paris FC has welcomed him to their team, allowing him to join just hours after Nice terminated his contract.
