On October 2, 2019, a paternity dispute involving the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth came to an end after his wife and girlfriend agreed to abide by DNA test results.

Monica Okoth, Ken Okoth's widow, and Anne Thumbi, his girlfriend, recorded a consent in court, accepting the outcome of the DNA test that confirmed Ken Okoth was the father of a boy whose paternity was in dispute.

Initially, Monica Okoth had disputed the DNA results produced in court, which confirmed that Ken Okoth had a son with Anne Thumbi.

Lawyer Danstan Omari, representing the mother of the child, stated that the paternity issue had now been resolved and that Anne Thumbi would move to the High Court to seek the child's upkeep, including school fees and medical cover.

"The next question is to decide what are the entitlements of the child under the succession law. We will move to the High Court to get school fees, and medical cover for the child," said Mr. Omari.
