CBK Governor Reveals Number of Old Ksh1,000 Notes Collected

On October 2, 2019, CBK Governor Patrik Njoroge revealed that approximately 209.7 million pieces of old Ksh1,000 notes were collected during the demonetization exercise.

Speaking to journalists, Mr Njoroge explained that the collected old notes would be processed and eventually shredded into powder after the exercise is completed.

Interestingly, the CBK Governor noted that about 7.4 million pieces of the old notes were not returned.
