On Friday, Citizen TV's beloved kids show Machachari aired its grand finale, marking the end of a 13-year run. The show, which targeted young children's lives and their interactions with society, has been a staple on the network since its inception.
According to sources, the show's cancellation was due to the actors' growing age, which made it difficult to maintain the show's intended purpose. However, rumors also suggest that the actors' misbehavior on social media, including posing with their girlfriends, may have contributed to the show's demise.
Speaking to Weekly Citizen, RMS production manager Manager Ngige revealed that the show didn't evolve to remain relevant to its target audience. As a result, the team decided to bring the show to an end and develop a new series, JOHARI, to cater to the same demographic.
Ngige further stated that the crew was prepared for the show's cancellation and underwent counseling sessions, mentorship, and preparations to move on with their lives. The media house has pledged to support the crew as they pursue their dreams, with some of the actors already working on music projects.
As Citizen TV continues to revamp its programming, the likes of 'Inspekta Mwala' and 'Papa Shirandula' will now air from 6:30 pm, replacing their previous 7:30 pm time slot.
