On October 2, 2019, a city court in Kenya directed a private detective, Jane Mugo, to present herself at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for her fingerprints to be taken.

The court emphasized that the Directorate of Public Prosecutions has the authority to order investigations and charge individuals.

Ms. Mugo's lawyer, Danstan Omari, expressed concerns that his client was afraid to present herself to the DCI due to the involvement of former colleagues in the investigation.

Mr. Omari requested that the court provide protection for Ms. Mugo before she presented herself to the DCI, citing concerns that police officers were seeking her firearm as evidence.

The court directed Ms. Mugo to present herself to the investigating officer on the following day to record a statement, have her fingerprints taken, and present her gun and certificate.

The court also ordered the prosecution to supply Ms. Mugo with statements from witnesses who had given evidence to the police.

Ms. Mugo has denied threatening to kill two individuals, Mr. Patrick Mugasia Kefa and Mr. Deepa Shah, on separate dates.
