Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has sparked controversy after a surprise meeting with ODM party leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday.

According to ODM, Jumwa had ditched DP Ruto's camp and vowed to campaign for Bernard Okoth Imran, the party's candidate for the Kibra Parliamentary seat in the November 7 by-election.

However, Jumwa denied the claims, stating that ODM is her home and her DNA is ODM. She also claimed that she did not attend the ODM Parliamentary Group meeting at County Hall, but instead joined DP Ruto and other legislators in a meeting with Divine Church elders at Mash Park Hotel, Nairobi.

On March 2019, Jumwa was expelled from ODM on claims of disloyalty, but a tribunal later declared the party's decision as null and void.

ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale maintained that Jumwa did indeed take part in the party meeting, but Jumwa's claims have left many questioning the truth.

As the supremacy battle between the Tangatanga and Kieleweke camps continues, Jumwa's actions have added fuel to the fire.
